About Surah Adh-Dhariyat
Surah Adh-Dhariyat (الذاريات) is the fifty-first chapter of the Holy Quran. Its name means “The Winnowing Winds.” It is a Makki Surah consisting of 60 ayahs and extends across the twenty-sixth and twenty-seventh Juz of the Quran.
Surah Adh-Dhariyat focuses on Allah's provision, the certainty of judgment, the stories of earlier peoples, and the purpose of human and jinn creation.
The Surah opens with oaths connected to winds and other forces of creation, emphasizing that the promised judgment is true.
It describes the qualities of the righteous, including worship during the night and giving a share of their wealth to those in need.
A major section recounts the visit of the angels to Prophet Ibrahim, peace be upon him, bringing good news and later proceeding toward the people of Prophet Lut.
The Surah also refers to Musa, 'Ad, Thamud, and the people of Nuh as examples of communities that rejected clear guidance.
One of its best-known teachings states that jinn and human beings were created to worship Allah, placing worship and devotion at the center of life's purpose.
