Matric and Intermediate Result by Roll Number

Matric is the Secondary School Certificate for class 9 and class 10. Intermediate is the Higher Secondary School Certificate for class 11 and class 12. Choose the board on the roll number slip and open that board’s official result.

The board name is on the slip

A roll number belongs to one board. Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar each have their own result page, and Karachi uses a different board for matric and intermediate.

This site does not issue or store marks. The linked board page is the official result.

Matric and intermediate results in Pakistan

A matric result is the Secondary School Certificate result, written SSC. It covers class 9, which is Part I, and class 10, which is Part II. An intermediate result is the Higher Secondary School Certificate result, written HSSC. It covers class 11, which is Part I, and class 12, which is Part II. Students also search for these as the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th class result.

Each Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education publishes the result for the schools and colleges in its own area. The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education publishes the result for Islamabad and for the institutions, including Gilgit-Baltistan and many overseas centres, that sit the FBISE examination. The Aga Khan University Examination Board publishes the SSC and HSSC result for its own affiliated schools. The roll number slip names the board. That board’s website is where the marks are issued.

Hamari Dunya keeps the board list and the link to each official result page. It does not store marks, grades or candidate names. After you open the board page, choose the announced examination and enter the roll number there.

How to check a result by roll number

Read the board name, the class and the roll number on the roll number slip. On this page, select that board, choose matric or intermediate, and enter the roll number. This page checks that roll number on the official result for the announced examination and shows the pass or fail status when the board returns the card. When the board asks for the year and the sitting on its own page, the roll number stays here so it can be copied.

A regular candidate’s result is filed under the institution. A private candidate’s result is filed under the roll number. Some boards ask regular candidates to open the result through the institution, and ask private candidates to type the roll number. Use the path that matches the slip.

Matric groups are usually Science or Humanities. Intermediate groups are usually Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering, ICS, I.Com or Humanities. The result card shows the group, the subjects, the marks and the pass or fail status the board declared. The board sets the pass mark for that examination, and the card is the record of what it awarded.

Which board covers your district

The board follows the district of the school or college, which is also the board named on the roll number slip. A new district usually stays with the board that already examined its schools. If a district below does not match the slip, follow the slip.

Karachi uses two boards. The Board of Secondary Education Karachi conducts matric. The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi conducts intermediate. Hyderabad’s own account of its area includes Shaheed Benazirabad with Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Matiari, Dadu, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Thatta, Sujawal and Badin. Sukkur’s own account includes Sukkur, Ghotki, Khairpur and Naushahro Feroze. Peshawar’s account of the later split places Nowshera with Mardan, and places Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Orakzai and Kurram with Kohat.

Annual, supplementary, gazette and result card

The annual examination is the main sitting of the year. Boards also call it the first annual examination. The supplementary examination is the later sitting for a candidate who failed one or more papers or missed the annual examination. Boards also call it the second annual examination. Gujranwala and other boards keep earlier years on the same result system, so the year and the class have to match the slip before the roll number can be found.

A result card is the mark sheet for one roll number. A gazette is the board’s combined list for that examination, usually published as a PDF. Searching the gazette for the roll number shows the same candidate in the full list. FBISE also lets a result be opened by roll number, by name or by institution. The result card remains the individual record.

An unannounced examination has no card yet. When the board declares it, the same roll number is checked again on that board’s result page, with the year and the sitting selected.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the official matric or intermediate result? ▾

The board that conducted the examination publishes the result on its own website. This page identifies that board from the roll number slip and opens its result page. The marks, grade and pass or fail status on the board page are the official result.

What is matric and what is intermediate? ▾

Matric is the Secondary School Certificate, also called SSC. It covers class 9 and class 10. Intermediate is the Higher Secondary School Certificate, also called HSSC. It covers class 11 and class 12. Class 9 and class 11 are Part I. Class 10 and class 12 are Part II.

What do I need to check a result by roll number? ▾

You need the board named on the roll number slip, the examination (matric or intermediate), the year, whether it is the annual or the supplementary sitting, and the roll number. Enter the roll number exactly as printed, using digits only.

What is the difference between an annual result and a supplementary result? ▾

The annual examination is the main sitting of the year. Boards also call it the first annual examination. The supplementary examination is the later sitting for students who failed one or more papers, or who missed the annual examination. Boards also call it the second annual examination. A roll number belongs to one of those sittings.

What is a result card and what is a gazette? ▾

A result card is the mark sheet for one roll number. It lists the subjects, the marks, and whether the candidate passed or failed. A gazette is the board’s full result list for that examination, usually a PDF in which you can search the same roll number. The result card on the board website is the individual result.

Which board conducts Karachi matric and intermediate? ▾

Matric in Karachi is conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Karachi. Intermediate in Karachi is conducted by the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi. A Karachi roll number has to be opened on the board that matches the examination.

Which result do Gilgit-Baltistan students use? ▾

Schools in Gilgit-Baltistan currently sit the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education examination. Their matric and intermediate results are on the FBISE result page. A separate Gilgit-Baltistan board website is not published.

Why does a roll number show no result? ▾

The usual reasons are a different board, the wrong year, annual selected when the paper was supplementary, or Part I selected when the roll number is for Part II. The result also stays unavailable until that board has announced the examination. Use the roll number slip, which names the board and the examination.
