About Surah Al-Hujurat
Surah Al-Hujurat (الحجرات) is the forty-ninth chapter of the Holy Quran. Its name means “The Rooms.” It is a Madani Surah consisting of 18 ayahs and is contained in the twenty-sixth Juz of the Quran.
Surah Al-Hujurat provides important guidance for manners, communication, community relationships, and respectful behavior.
The Surah teaches believers to show proper respect toward Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and not to raise their voices over his voice.
A major principle in the Surah is the instruction to verify news brought by an unreliable person before acting upon it, helping prevent injustice and unnecessary conflict.
It encourages reconciliation between believers when disputes arise and describes believers as brothers and sisters in faith.
The Surah strongly warns against mockery, insulting others, offensive nicknames, suspicion, spying, and backbiting.
It also teaches that human diversity into nations and tribes is for recognition, while true honor before Allah is based on righteousness rather than ethnicity, wealth, or social status.
