About Surah Al-Anbiya
Surah Al-Anbiya (الأنبياء) is the twenty-first chapter of the Holy Quran. Its name means “The Prophets.” It is a Makki Surah consisting of 112 ayahs and is contained in the seventeenth Juz of the Quran.
Surah Al-Anbiya focuses on important themes of Tawheed, prophethood, resurrection, accountability, patience, and Allah’s power over creation. It reminds people that the message delivered by the prophets was fundamentally the same: worship Allah alone and follow His guidance.
The Surah mentions several prophets, including Ibrahim, Lut, Nuh, Dawud, Sulayman, Ayyub, Ismail, Idris, Dhul-Kifl, Yunus, Zakariya, Yahya, and Isa, peace be upon them.
A major section discusses Prophet Ibrahim, peace be upon him, and his rejection of idol worship. It describes how he challenged the beliefs of his people and demonstrated that objects created by human hands cannot possess divine power.
The Surah also refers to Prophet Ayyub (Job), peace be upon him, whose story provides an important example of patience during hardship. After enduring severe difficulty, he called upon Allah, and Allah responded to his prayer.
Another well-known passage relates to Prophet Yunus, peace be upon him, who called upon Allah while in distress. His story reminds believers to turn sincerely to Allah during difficult circumstances.
Surah Al-Anbiya repeatedly emphasizes that all prophets were human messengers who worshipped Allah. Their lives provide examples of faith, patience, prayer, and obedience.
The Surah also reminds people about the Day of Judgment and warns that worldly life is temporary. Every person will eventually return to Allah and be accountable for what they believed and how they lived.
Surah Al-Anbiya encourages believers to remain steadfast, reflect on the signs of Allah in creation, and follow the guidance brought by His messengers.
