About Surah Al-A'la

Surah Al-A'la (الأعلى) is the eighty-seventh chapter of the Holy Quran. Its name means “The Most High.” It is a Makki Surah consisting of 19 ayahs and is contained in the thirtieth Juz of the Quran.

Surah Al-A'la calls believers to glorify Allah, the Most High, and reflects on creation, guidance, remembrance, and the Hereafter.

The Surah states that Allah creates, proportions, determines, and guides, showing that order and purpose are present throughout creation.

It reassures Prophet Muhammad ﷺ regarding the recitation of revelation and encourages him to continue reminding people.

The Surah explains that reminders benefit those who possess reverence, while those who deliberately turn away may face serious consequences.

It contrasts attachment to worldly life with the better and more lasting reality of the Hereafter.

Surah Al-A'la also notes that these fundamental teachings appeared in the earlier scriptures of Ibrahim and Musa, peace be upon them.
